4-23-03 — Elsa Taylor Signs Pledge

Candidate for the 6th District Promises to Oppose Tax Increases

Hernando, MS — Republican Elsa Taylor today became the only District 6 candidate to pledge to fight for the Mississippi taxpayer by signing a pledge opposing any increases in taxes. The formal pledge is promoted by Americans for Tax Reform, a nationally recognized advocacy group.

As of today's date, over 1,160 state legislators have signed the Pledge. Eight governors, four Lieutenant Governors, two Attorneys General, four Secretaries of State, four Treasurers, 216 U.S. Representatives, 41 U.S. Senators, and President George W. Bush have all joined Elsa Taylor in signing similar versions of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Elsa demonstrated her dedication to the taxpayers of her district and Mississippi by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge on April 23, 2003. By signing the pledge, Mrs. Taylor promises "to oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes."

"Fighting against any proposal to raise our taxes is one of my main issues in this campaign," stated Mrs. Taylor. "Mississippi needs to live within her means and I pledge to oppose any tax increase proposal in Jackson."

Americans for Tax Reform serves as a national clearinghouse for the grassroots taxpayers' movement by working with approximately 800 state and county level groups. ATR is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC.
