Dale - Hattiesburg - 'Put your money where your mouth is'
Often we are reminded of the exhortation to put your money where your mouth is. What happens when a person's money and mouth are in two different places? Republican candidate for Governor and Jackson trial lawyer Mitch Tyner claims with his own mouth that he is a conservative, a Republican, and in favor of less government regulation of business. His money (i.e. history of campaign contributions) says something entirely different. Here are but a few of Mitch Tyners past political contributions: - gave $1,000 to Chuck McRae (opposed by the Miss. Republican party) on November 6, 2002 (the day after he got beat) -- gave $1,000 to Ronnie Musgrove on June 6, 1999 -- $500 to John Arthur Eaves, Jr. (Chip Pickering’s Democratic opponent) on June 10, 1996 -- $250 to Bill Wheeler (Roger Wicker’s Democratic opponent) on June 22, 1994 -- $500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on October 26, 1992 -- $250 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on September 15, 1989 In addition, Mitch Tyner is a former "Lawyer of the Year" of the Miss. Trial Lawyers Association, a group which has been outspoken in its opposition to tort reform in Mississippi. In short, Tyner is about as much a Republican as Ronnie Musgrove himself. As such, I hope all true Republicans like me will give Mitch Tyner the welcome to our party he so richly deserves come August, by overwhelmingly selecting Haley Barbour as our nominee for Governor in November.
